All Social Networks TopicGuest writes "Ok, this should be very short article.Have you wondered why all the free sites have this "Links" or "Partners" or "Friends" links somewhere on their page?Well, it is very simple - usually this "friends has added a link to the site in question and in favour the site would add their lilnk.

So, what's the deal?Well, apart from receiving some hits from those sites, the page rank is also increased. How this sites found each other - there is a well known link echange directories for that purpose, we are also using one:

Twitter - Soon to Launch: Lists

All Social Networks TopicGuest writes "My name is Nick Kallen (@nk) and I'm the project lead on Lists, a new feature we're testing with a small subset of users. The idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of all time, athletes, local businesses, friends, or any compilation that makes sense.

Lists are public by default (but can be made private) and the lists you've created are linked from your profile. Other Twitter users can then subscribe to your lists. This means lists have the potential to be an important new discovery mechanism for great tweets and accounts.

We started working on this feature because of the frequent requests we received from people who were looking for a better way to organize information on Twitter. Of course, that means not just twitter.com—the Platform team will follow up in a few days with information on the Lists API. This will allow developers to add support for Lists into your favorite Twitter apps.

We're just doing limited testing for now. But once we've tested the feature out a bit, we'll launch it for all accounts!

Link your Facebook Page to Twitter

Mobile Twitter AppsGuest writes "
Facebook Twitter app helps you do the opposite of what apps like Selective Twitter or TweetPo.st do. Your status updates, links, photos etc., shared on Facebook are tweeted to your twitter account.

There are a lot of options to choose from when deciding what exactly you want tweeted to your twitter account from your Facebook pages. You can select to have only the status updates tweeted or just links and photos or have everything updated to twitter.

Quickie
  • Update Facebook updates to your twitter account
  • Select what gets updated and what doesn’t

A Futurelooks Guide to Mobile Twitter Clients

Mobile Twitter AppsGuest writes "
A short while ago, we discussed some of the Twitter clients for the desktop and how they expand upon the functionality of the popular microblogging and social networking platform. What about when you are away from your computer? Did you know that there are plenty of Twitter clients designed for mobile phones as well?

It’s easy enough to send out a tweet when you are seated in your home office, but it may be even more important (and interesting) if you tweet while on the go. You can live-tweet a local event, for example, getting your followers to follow you around as you attend a conference, concert, or convention. Which mobile client reigns supreme? Let’s have a look at a few options.

One of the features added to Twitter very early on was the ability to send out a tweet from your mobile phone as a text message. Each region has its own access number and you essentially send an SMS to this number and it will update your Twitter account. If you don’t have a data plan on your phone, this is really the only mobile option for you. The text messages aren’t free, but Twitter doesn’t charge you anything directly.
Unfortunately for Canadians, we’re not able to receive Twitter tweets. In this way, SMS tweeting is largely a one-way street for Canadians. However, this policy has recently been relaxed by some carriers. Even if you are able to receive tweets, that could result in far too many text messages flooding your phone. If you follow hundreds of people (like I do), this can be more pain than what it’s worth.

If you don’t have the opportunity to install a proper Twitter client on your phone, you can still access the mobile version of Twitter on m.twitter.com. This is a very barebones approach, not unlike the regular website, but it’s stripped down even further. You can read replies, but not direct messages. There is also no integrated support for URL shortening, retweets, or TwitPics.

Pros: No installation needed, convenient
Cons: Absolutely no bells or whistles, very basic
Verdict: A simple solution for emergency tweeting

Windows Mobile Gets ceTwit

Since there are more competitors in the market today, Windows Mobile isn’t quite as popular as it used to be. Let’s face it. Windows Mobile isn’t the prettiest smartphone operating system out there and while it may be functional, it’s not particularly user-friendly. If you are rocking a Windows Mobile smartphone, though, you still have tweeting options.

One of the better Twitter clients for Windows Mobile is ceTwit and it also happens to be completely free. You get all of the basic abilities of a Twitter client, including access to replies and direct messages. There is also an auto-refresh feature, so you don’t have to refresh manually when you boot up ceTwit either.

Unlike the mobile Twitter site, you get to view user avatars in ceTwit as well. The different types of tweets are also color-coded, not unlike Twhirl. Other features include retweeting, copy-and-paste, ping.fm support, and access to TwitPic. Just about everything a Windows Mobile user would need can be found with ceTwit.

Pros: Full support for retweets, TwitPics, and avatars
Cons: Clunky Windows Mobile interface
Verdict: The best Twitter client for WM users

Facebook Mobile: Now Connecting 65 Million People

Mobile Facebook AppsGuest writes "Even when you're away from your desktop, we want you to be able to share and connect with those that matter to you on Facebook. We had that goal in mind when we launched Facebook Mobile in 2006. Today, we reached a new milestone with more than 65 million people now actively using Facebook on their mobile devices — a significant increase from 20 million just eight months ago.

As we celebrate 65 million, we want you to be able to take Facebook with you wherever you go. That's why we are continuously making updates to our mobile products and working with some of the biggest names in mobile to make sure that Facebook is available on the latest devices and mobile operating systems.

Facebook Mobile first started as a simple mobile site in English with a few of the core site features built in, such as status updates and photo uploads. Since then, we've grown far beyond what was then a fairly basic mobile site. We have translated the mobile site into other languages, launched Facebook SMS and deployed a wide range of applications for hundreds of mobile handsets, including Facebook for Blackberry, Facebook for iPhone and Facebook for Nokia.

Below is a quick tour of all of your options for using Facebook Mobile:

Mobile Web Sites
Facebook has two mobile web sites: m.facebook.com, which works on any mobile browser, and x.facebook.com, which is designed specifically for touch screen phones like Android, Palm, iPhone and Nokia. These sites have been translated into more than 60 languages and allow you to update your status, browse your News Feed and your friends' Profiles, comment or "like" stories, and view or update your Facebook Page.

Text Messages
Through Facebook Mobile Texts, you can receive notifications, set your status and send and receive messages via SMS. This service is now available on 52 operators in 25 countries, on any mobile phone.

Facebook Mobile for Devices
Facebook applications can be found on an increasing number of mobile phones; many come pre-installed while others can be downloaded from the Internet. The most recent Facebook mobile applications include major updates for Apple's iPhone and Nokia's N97 and 5800. These applications make it easier to update your status, share photos, browse your News Feed and keep in contact with all your friends on Facebook wherever you are.

Also available are Facebook applications from INQ, HTC, LG Electronics, Motorola, Palm, RIM, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. There are also Facebook applications for the T-Mobile Sidekick and phones powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile.

Facebook Connect for Mobile Web
Beginning today, you'll start to see Facebook Connect available on some of your mobile sites and applications, just as you would on the Web. Already, Facebook Connect makes it easier for you to take your online identity with you all over the Web, share what you do online with your friends and stay updated on what they're doing. Soon, you'll see prompts for Facebook Connect on mobile sites and applications and have the opportunity to take your Facebook profile information, friends and privacy preferences to your favorite mobile applications, as well.

If you're a developer and want to build social applications, learn more about Facebook Connect for Mobile Web here.

Whether you want to use an application, the mobile site or SMS, you can always learn more about all Facebook Mobile services here.

Henri and the rest of the mobile team are working on helping you access Facebook on any phone wherever you are."

Facebook for Mobile is Growing Rapidly

Mobile Facebook AppsGuest writes "
Just eight months ago, more than 20 million users were actively using Facebook on their mobile devices. Today, the company has announced that that number has more than tripled — bringing the current active userbase to more than 65 million.

The other big news today is that Facebook Connect will now start appearing on mobile sites and in mobile applications (iPhone is already supported).

The same way Facebook Connect makes it easy to login to sites or share information with your friends just by using your Facebook account on your computer, that extensibility will now be available on some mobile websites and apps.

If you’re a developer and want to integrate Facebook Connect for Mobile Web into your own apps or services, you can visit Facebook’s dev center for more information.

Logging onto websites or creating new user accounts isn’t always the easiest proposition when using a mobile device. Simply having the ability to use your Facebook  login in your mobile apps is a great step to making staying connected easier and more fluid.

Do you use Facebook more on a mobile device or on your computer?

Mobile Twitter, Yet Another Way to Use Twitter, Yet Another Mobile Twitter Site

Mobile Twitter Apps
This days is already hard to imagine social networking without Twitter. Being important for so many people , it would make sense to be free and easy to use, which is one of the main goals of the popular micro blogging platform. A question arises - do you really need a PC and desktop browser in order to use it?Fortunately - no. Twitter exposes most of it's functionality in a convenient interface, accessible for third-party systems and developers to use it. There is already a plenty of twitter applications providing various functionality to their users.

Twitter also has a mobile version, but it has few features and people are usually complaining of missing functionality. There are many mobile clients with various set/subset of functionality but let's take a look at one of the newest mobile twitter site, that is promising a lot of things!

http://twittme.mobi is claiming to be full featured mobile twitter site, that runs on every mobile phone. Well, there is no way to say right now if that's true, but there is already quite enough mobile users ready to approve/disapprove this opinion.

Enough with the dummy words - let's see what it can and can't do!

Overview:

Designed to run explicitly on mobile phones, even on devices with poor resources. The width page is adjusting automatically to the device screen, so no unnecessary scrolling is needed. There are no messy text/image views and page size is not bigger that 15kb, which is good enough for most of the mobile phones. The layout is intuitive and easy to use. There is a light navigation pane on the top of every page which makes navigation really easy. The layout is also light and nice to read, with intuitive links and small user friendly images. It really has many features and almost no bugs!

Features(I allowed to put interesting features in red):

* sending updates * reading friends updates * paging available where needed * reply on status * delete own status * re-tweet of status * manage favourites * sent a tweet to an e-mail address * list all friends in a cool way * use of profile saved colours for friend page * show detailed info for any friend * browsing friend's followers and showing their info and followers * check followers tweets and use all the tweet features on them. * view/manage direct messages * search in tweets * search trends view

There is a very convenient feedback form so it is easy to give feedback for something that you don't like - i tried once and I got response within one day. The site also has a twitter account, so you can follow them and send tweets directly: http://twitter.com/twittme_mobi

So, http://twittme.mobi is quite good hum? Well, let's see the drawbacks or "nice to have" features:

There is no "remember me" functionality so the user should enter it's username and password every time they use the site. The answer from http://twittme.mobi was that there is a "you have a valid session" link, that allows you to enter the site by single click if your session did not expired. It could be nice, if there is a setting for disabling images at server side, still preserving quality layout. Another convenient feature would be to have a "key" shortcuts at least for the navigation pane, so when a key is pressed the link is activated. I already asked on http://twittme.mobi for all this features, and I was assured, that they are working on it. Smart phone owners might be a bit disappointed, since the site is optimised mostly for devices with poor resources, but it still look quite nice on smart phones.

Conclusion:

I will leave the conclusion to you, but let's say that it is a promising new site, so I wish them all the good luck and let's hope that they will survive.
